Access Protected Agreements

In circumstances where you want to create an extra level of security for your agreements, or where you aren't confident that your customer's email client is private, you can require the signer's password to be entered prior to the agreement opening. This function will require the individual to either enter their password or register prior to opening the agreement. For an additional level of security, you can also add an access code that can be entered at the time of sending the agreement, or generated from a data source such as a field within the document or an external system.

When access protected is enabled, viewing the agreement is restricted to signers, the publisher, and all company administrators. Access protected is enabled for entire agreements so all documents in a package are affected.



Check the first box to turn on access protected. By default everyone opening the agreement will be prompted for a password (or to register).

Access Code

For more security you can add an access code once access protected is enabled. The access code can be any value. This code is not automatically included in Agreement Express emails so publishers will need to provide signers their code in a separate email or phone call.  The Publisher will also not be able to look up what the access code was set as once the agreement has been published.

Additionally, 'For new users' can be selected to only prompt unregistered users to enter this access code once (in order to protect the registration screen from being completed by the wrong person). Registered users will only be prompted for their password.

If 'For new users' is not checked, the access code will be required every time.

Prompt Hint

This is tied with the access code. It allows the Publisher to provide a hint to the signer(s) of what the access code is.

When an access protected agreement is opened, the toolbars for the Agreement Interface are loaded but a prompt for password and possibly access code (similar to above) appears instead of the actual agreement. Once the user has been authenticated the agreement will load.
